MIDNIGHT EXPRESS - a short film by Kilian Mayer
This is an opener to the YOUKI FILM FESTIVAL 2017.
Contains mildly obscene German language and suggestive disturbing imagery.
The only specification we had received was to lift a concept from the Road Trip genre and transform it in some way. Due to the early deadline, we had a very rushed production. Yet, each and every member of this small team is more than happy with the end result.
The year is 1987. A group of misfit teenagers is camping in a field, only to find itself awoken by a very unlikely sound. There, out in the grass, a gigantic magical steam train has arrived to take them on a horrifying journey of self discovery, personal identity, love and sacrifice. They soon learn, however, that there is a price to pay and no matter the terror, the end result may well be worth it.
